Sales Enthusiasts
There is a major trend today whereby many highly skilled and successful professionals are seeking career change. For some who are very ambitious, one of the more appealing careers is to become a sales person in a particular industry that offers great personal and professional challenge and financial reward.
For example, a young client hired Sales Experts in Training to move him from being a Senior Buyer of 16 years in a large international engineering firm to become a sales performer in the oil and gas industry.
This client had absolutely no sales experience but was quite capable of becoming a sales enthusiast. It took nine months of intense and relentless dedication and transformation in order to prepare him for sales interviews.
We began by recognizing what he did not know and he proceeded to aggressively educate himself on:
- the oil and gas industry
- he joined various oil and gas related associations to build a circle of influence i.e. contacts
- he studied what was missing with respect to various company’s sales results
- he built a warm circle of influence of owners of Oil and Gas companies that would be more than willing to provide referrals
- his resume was transformed to deliberately point out all instances where he experienced selling
- he built a web site so that prospective employers could check him out and see that he definitely was worth investing in
- he studied 10 companies which he wanted to represent that complemented his personal and professional values and what they needed with respect to new sales and market place visibility
- Building a plan of action strengthened his confidence and prepared him for the interviewing process.
- We practiced the interviewing process and what he needed to communicate to the prospective employer in order to be authentic and credible
- He needed to attract a position that offered lateral compensation in the six figures range.
The nine months of aggressive focus and due diligence paid off. He achieved all of his goals and beyond. He continued to work with Sales Experts in Training to sustain the momentum we had begun so that he would in fact achieve the sales goals and objectives he was hired to do.
In less than five months he had accomplished more than his predecessor and with his higher sales techniques was considered to be the most outstanding novice sales performer they had ever hired.
Sales Professionals
Five years ago a fairly accomplished realtor, a sales enthusiast, of 15 years hired Sales Experts in Training to elevate him to perform as a sales professional.
At that time he was involved in a very destructive business partnership. SET was hired to support him in releasing this destructive business partnership. This business partnership breakup took approximately two years to heal.
During that time we built a higher sales and marketing plan that allowed him to more than double his commissions from $160,000 to $500,000 within two years.
The focus was to create a solid and consistent sales momentum. This momentum took great self discipline and discernment on his part. He lived the process everyday and soon he began to attract a higher level of clientele that propelled his goal to double his sales in two years.
